Douglas County School System is actively working to be prepared in the case of inclement weather. We are launching an online learning platform for the days that students and teachers are not able to make it in.
To the wonderful students and parents at LSES:
This outlines the plan for the work that students will do at home in the event that inclement weather, or the threat thereof, causes school to be cancelled. It also will indicate how the teachers may be contacted for academic support. Assignments are due no later than the third day after students return to school.
Kindergarten
The kindergarten teachers will post assignments on Class Dojo and be available for support through that program. If you are not signed up for Class Dojo, this should be done as soon as possible.
First Grade
In preparations for any future inclement weather, first grade teachers have created a Choice Board for your scholar to continue their learning experience at home. This is in their Homework Binders. There is a variety of activities for them to choose from. They will complete 4 activities each day we are absent. These activities will need to be turned in once we return to school.
We will also use Class Dojo to communicate with you as well as to respond to any questions from 9:00am until 2:00pm as long as we have power and access to technology.

Second Grade
Dear Parents,
In your child's folder you will find a packet with a reading choice board and a math choice board. In the event that school has to close due to snow or any other inclement weather the students will use this packet to take the place of a make up day.
The teacher will be available via ClassDojo or email each day from 9am-2pm. If you have any questions or concerns you will be able to reach the teacher during those hours. Please have your student complete one activity on each choice board for each day that school is closed (i.e. if school is closed for 3 days due to bad weather you will need to complete 3 math activities and 3 reading activities.) All assignments will be due within 3 days of returning to school.
Third Grade
In preparation for the possible inclement weather, the third grade team has taken the steps to make sure students have access to assignments through the online Google Classroom. Each teacher has put assignments on the platform that will allow for students to continue practicing skills we are working on in class. This also will help avoid having to make up any days in the future for missed class time. If possible, please allow your child time to log on and complete 1 math and 1 reading assignment for each day we may not be in the classroom. If you have any questions your child’s teacher will be available for questions via ClassDojo or email. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or concerns. We would also like to make sure all parents know that no student will be punished for missing online assignments if they are unable to complete it due to not having access to a computer or internet. Fourth Grade
If the school closes for any reason, all 4th grade teachers can be reached through Class Dojo. Our hours of availability will be from 9am until 2pm. We are connected to each classroom. Anyone of us will be glad to answer questions. Everyone STAY SAFE!
The students have “In Case of Emergency” folders. In each folder are reading and math assignments. There are enough assignments for 9 days of work. These assignments will be completed when the district decides to close for weather related issues. Please have your child complete 1 of the activity boxes for every day the school is closed. Each box contains a math and an ELA activity. Also, remember to check Class Dojo for more information and any further details.
Fifth Grade
In the event of inclement weather the 5th grade students at Lithia Springs Elementary School will go on www.readworks.org to complete an assignment for reading. If you do not have access to technology or if you lose power you can read for thirty minutes with your child.
In the event of inclement weather the 5th grade students at Lithia Springs Elementary School will go on www.prodigy.com to complete an assignment for math. If you do not have access to technology or if you lose power you can practice multiplication facts for thirty minutes with your child.
Your child’s teachers may be contacted through their school email. They will respond to emails immediately from 9 AM- 2 PM on days when school has been cancelled.

En caso de Que No Vengamos a Escuela por El Clima
KINDER:
Los maestros de Kínder van a mandar por Class Dojo información de lo que los niños devén de hacer para cuando regresen a la escuela. Si no se han apuntado para Class Dojo con el maestro de su hijo hágalo.
Primero:
Las maestras de primero hicieron una tablilla con diferentes actividades. Los niños deben de hacer 4 actividades por cada día que no estemos en clase y entregar al maestro cuando regresen a clase. Las maestras estarán disponibles en Class Dojo para cualquier pregunta de 9am a 2pm mientras tengan luz y acceso a la tecnología.
Segundo:
Las maestras de Segundo ano dieron a los niños dos tablillas una de matemáticas y una de lectura para que pusieran en su carpeta y lo mantengan allí. Los niños deberán hacer una actividad de lectura y una de matemáticas por cada día que no haiga clases. Las maestras estarán disponibles en Class Dojo para cualquier pregunta de 9am a 2pm mientras tengan luz y acceso a la tecnología.
Tercero:
Las maestras de tercer grado tienen ya listo en Google Classroom varios trabajos para que los niños completen. Cada profesora tiene trabajos para que cada niño complete uno de matemáticas y uno de lectura por cada día que no haiga clases. Las maestras también saben que si algún niño no tiene acceso a la internet y no hace los trabajos no se les va a penalizar por eso. Las maestras estarán disponibles en Class Dojo o por email para cualquier pregunta de 9am a 2pm mientras tengan luz y acceso a la tecnología.
Cuarto:
Los estudiantes tienen carpetas “En Caso de Emergencia” con trabajo para 9 días. Por cada día que la escuela está cerrada los niños deberán de hacer una de matemáticas y una de lectura. También estén atentos de Class Dojo. Las maestras estarán disponibles en Class Dojo para cualquier pregunta de 9am a 2pm mientras tengan luz y acceso a la tecnología.
Quinto:
Los niños de quinto pueden ir a www.readworks.org y completar una actividad de lectura allí. Si pierden luz o no tienen tecnología lean con sus hijos por 30 minutos. Para matemáticas los niños van a ir a www.prodigy.com y hace uno de los trabajos allí. Si no tienen luz practique con sus hijos las tablas de multiplicaciones o división. Las maestras estarán disponibles por email para cualquier pregunta de 9am a 2pm mientras tengan luz y acceso a la tecnología.
