Ana MenjivarCouch, LSES School Counselor

Ana Lyllian Menjívar-Couch

I graduated from High School at “Colegio La Asunción” in San Salvador, El Salvador.  For some of my Elementary and Middle school years, I played basketball.  I played defense and offense, and then on 8th grade I played Center.

So, as soon as I graduated from High School, I left to learn English at Nova University in Davie Florida.   My passion has always been to help others help themselves, and this is why I went to study Psychology at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, with a minor in Economics. During that time I sang in the Catholic Church choir, and played the guitar.  Also, I sang in the Women’s Chorus at Texas A&M University, and for Christmas we would sing together with the Corps of Cadets.  I participated in the International Olympics at Texas A&M, and I won the 2nd place in 50 yard Free style.  Then, I came to Georgia to do my Mater’s in Counseling and Educational Psychology at West Georgia College.  I graduated from my Master’s in 1990.  I became a US citizen in the year 2000.  Later, I worked as an interpreter and Translator for different language agencies, courts, and for Carroll County Schools.  This is when my passion to be a School Counselor was born in me, and I proceeded to study School Counseling at the University of West Georgia, and I got certified as a Georgia School Counselor in 2012.

My mission as a school counselor is to encourage the students to persevere with all their strength to reach and accomplish their dreams.
